Today we honor the signing of the Declaration of Independence which was signed on July 4th 1776. I plan on celebrating with a traditional barbecue and all the fixings. Happy Independence Day!

My Granddaughter's Third Birthday

My favorite little girl in the whole world turned three this week. Two was such a fun age, but three should be fun too!Unfortunately my camera batteries went out during her party, but I still got a couple of good shots of her in her birthday outfits.

I am lucky enough to have the best mom in the world. But, then most of our mothers are fantastic women that do it all with a smile. Happy Mother's Day to everybody. I hope your day is filled with flowers and chocolate!

Quit Smoking Update

According to a little gadget I have, it has been 1 month, 3 days and 5 hours since my last cigarette.I have saved $132.00 so far and best of all I have added 2 days seven hours and twenty minutes to my life. My legs feel better thanks to improved circulation and it's much easier to go up and down stairs. On the negative side, I have gained 5 pounds. Quitting smoking has been hard, but not nearly as hard as I thought it would be. I still have strong cravings for a cigarette, but the cravings last for a shorter period of time.

A Billion Acts of Green

Earthday.net is looking for a billion people worldwide to take the pledge to be more environmentally responsible. There is a form to pledge your personal environmental action this year. I pledged to replace all my lightbulbs with environmentally friendlier ones and unplug my electronics at night. Happy Earth Day!

Quitting!

I have been avoiding the computer lately because I am quitting smoking. The only place I smoked was in front of the computer. I quit on the first of April because of the price increase. I simply don't want to give my money to the government or the tobacco companies anymore. Each day I don't smoke, I transfer $4.00 from my checking into my savings. It should add up quickly. The savings will go for a vacation or something special. It has been hard, but 30 year old habits are not easy to break. The worst time of day is in the morning with my first cup of coffee. But, each day is getting easier. I can't wait for the day when I can finally say I am a non-smoker.

Two Birthdays

This week, my oldest son turned 29 and my little grandson turned 1. I can't believe how fast time flies by. It seems only yesterday my son was a baby and I was 29! Happy Birthday Darrel and Thomas!

New Computer

My poor computer gave up the ghost and I had to buy a new one. I love the speed and the memory, but I hate Vista. Hate it! Hate it! Hate it! I don't normally swear, but this past week I have said a mouthful. What's with the constant system administrator pop-ups? Why can't I change my default email? And how come they changed the solitaire game? I am not one of those people who hate change, but the whole Vista program is a big pain!
