In the New Year,
we wish you the best year you’ve ever had,

Merry Christmas!

When eggnog's generously filling
Each and every Christmas mug
And siblings tour miles and miles
To greet you with a hug
There's scarce else I'll be wishing
Than this simple little prayer
Of peace and calm and blessings much
On Christmas Day this year.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone has a nice meal and somebody to share it with! I have much to be thankful for.I plan on making the meal at my house this year for a change. My little granddaughter told me today that the pilgrims and Indians shared a feast of cheese and dried beans:)I plan on serving a bit more than that.

Great American Smokeout

Today is the day in which smokers are encouraged to quit. This is the 36th annual smokeout. I quit smoking 2 years, 7 months ago and I've never regretted it. Now if I could just encourage my mom, sisters, and sons to quit! The American Cancer Society has some excellent tips on quitting smoking-http://www.cancer.org/Healthy/StayAwayfromTobacco/GreatAmericanSmokeout/

Veteran's Day

On Veterans Day we honor all,
Who answered to a service call.
Soldiers young, and soldiers old,
Fought for freedom, brave and bold.
Some have lived, while others died,
And all of them deserve our pride.
We’re proud of all the soldiers who,
Kept thinking of red, white and blue.
They fought for us and all our rights,
They fought through many days and nights.
And though we may not know each name,
We thank ALL veterans just the same.

Fall Back

It's time to set your clocks back again. For some reason this always confuses me. It's also a good idea to replace the battery in your smoke alarm and stock up on cold medicine.

It's That Time of Year

We had a bad scare this week with my mom being hospitalized. She got sick and then couldn't breathe. She has some sort of bronchitis that she can't seem to shake. She is a little better now and is home, but on oxygen. She gets out of breath just standing. I stayed a week with her to help, but now I'm sick! I feel bad because I can't help her, but it feels good to be home.

My Memories Suite Giveaway
CLOSED
I am ashamed to say that I am the black sheep of my family. My mom, dad, aunts, nieces, sisters, and brother are all so artistic, but that gene was left out of me. My mom knits, crochets, and sews beautiful clothing. She makes her own curtains and pillows. My sisters draws beautifully and take great photos. My dad paints, draws, and takes fantastic photos. My little brother is artistic musically and sings, writes his own music and plays the guitar. If there's a wedding or a baby shower, the decorations are made by hand by my family-even the flowers! I am usually asked to babysit while they create beautiful items. That was before My Memories Suite. My Memories Suite is the #1 rated scrapbook software. Not only is it affordable and fun, it’s also extremely easy. Whether you’re new to digital scrapbooking or a seasoned pro, My Memories Suite is the perfect digital scrapbooking software to use.The download comes with fun templates and embellishments. You can also go to their website and there are many free kits and they also have inexpensive kits for purchase.I had so much fun with this software. It is easy to use and there are so many options! Here is a youtube video for more ideas. I had recently served sugar-free strawberry pie at a family get-together and everyone wanted the recipe. I decided to use My Memories Suite to send the recipe out.
Isn't this pretty? By the way, I highly recommend this pie recipe!
If you are interested in purchasing this software it is $39.97, but I have a code here for $10.00 off the software and $10.00 to use toward the store. The code is STMMMS70446.
I am having a giveaway for a free copy of My Memories Suite. To enter, please go to My Memories Suite and tell me in a comment your favorite new or free kit. If you want extra entries you can follow My Memories on twitter ,like My Memories on Facebook, follow My Memories Suite on GFC, or/and follow me on GFC. Please leave a separate comment for each entry. I will draw the winner from the comments using a random number generator on 10/15 and email the winner and announce it here. Good luck!

Happy talk like a mad scientist day!

Today is one of my favorite holidays! In celebration here is a quote from my all time favorite mad scientist from The Man With Two Brains "I don't know if I was interested so much in the science as I was in the slime that goes along with it. Snakes and frogs. When I saw how slimy the human brain was, I knew that's what I wanted to do for the rest of my life."-Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr

It pays to shop around!

I decided to spend my morning comparing auto insurance rates as I feel I have been paying way too much for someone wiith a perfect driving record. I thought I would share my rate quotes in case somebody else wants to shop around. All quotes are for the same liability coverage and monthly payments.
Unitrin 106.00 (my current coverage)
Country 89.00
State Farm 74.79
Allstate 154.00 !!!!!
Geico 68.07
Liberty 60.75
21 Century 116.07
Progressive 51.68
I chose Progressive for a savings of 54.32 a month-that's over 600.00 a year savings!

It's National Nude Day!

July 14th is National Nude Day! I was planning on celebrating by walking around my neighborhood naked (which, by the way, is totally legal in Oregon), but as usual the weather stinks! It's just too darn cold to be naked. Maybe next year!
