Veteran's Day

George Bush echoed my sentiments exactly when he said: "We must remember that many who served in our military never lived to be called veterans. We must remember many had their lives changed forever by experiences or the injuries of combat. All veterans are examples of service and citizenship for every American to remember and to follow." -- President George W. Bush, Oct. 30, 2001

I really love the inclusive aspect of your Veteran's Day image. Many people tend to forget that minority ethnic people, people of colour and women were also part of the military. Thank you.

Nice post! My father swore me into the military on my 17th birthday. I'm 41 now and just left military type duty this last July and came home to raise my kids. I think it's more of an adventure sometimes than combat. Don't let anyone fool you by saying they weren't affected by what they saw and felt and experienced over there. You can't see and do horrible things and it not affect your spirit. Remember to be patient with these younger soldiers as they come home. It's a different world over there... different rules, unfailing loyalty to the person standing next to you... all in the context that it can all come to a quick and violent end at any moment. Epic and tragic... all at the same time!
