I had the worst news from my dentist. I have to get dentures! Full upper and a partial lower plate. I am devastated! And terrified! I HATE going to the dentist, which is why I am in this position in the first place. I have advanced periodontal disease, which I guess can sneak up on you unawares. Anyway, take it from me-floss!

Tax Day

This is what I am working on this morning-it is crazy! My sister only lived in Oregon part of the year, these are the instructions on how to fill out an Oregon part year resident form.

Example: Delaney began working for the U.S. Forest
Service March 31, 1976, and retired January 7, 2009.
She worked a total of 393 months; 186 months were
worked before October 1, 1991. Delaney moved to
Oregon on May 31, 2009. She can subtract 47.3 percent
(186 ÷ 393) of her taxable federal pension. She
will use this percentage for both her federal column
and her Oregon column. She will multiply the percentage
by the amount in each column to determine the correct
subtraction for each column.
On her Form 40P, line 17F, she has $14,000 and on line
17S she has $9,000. Her federal pension subtraction
for the federal column is $6,622 ($14,000 x 0.473). Her
federal pension subtraction for the Oregon column
is $4,257 ($9,000 x 0.473). Since she is only claiming
one “Other subtraction,” Delaney will enter “307” on
line 37x and “$6,622” on line 37y. Then she will enter
“$6,622” on line 37F and “$4,257” on line 37S. She
will continue to subtract 47.3 percent of her taxable
federal pension in future years.

Easter Pics

I am so behind on my photos. Both my sons and my grandson had birthdays recently and the pictures are still sitting in my camera. Here are a couple of pictures my daughter sent me-she obviously didn't inherit my procrastination tendencies.

Happy Easter

I love everything about Easter, the pastel colors of spring flowers, marshmallow peeps, the brightly colored eggs, children in new spring clothes, but most of all the end of winter-which is always a gloomy time for me. Just when it feels it will never end, another spring arrives. I was searching for a poem or something to express my feelings about it, and found this which I never have heard; but think is so pretty:
The fasts are done; the Aves said;
The moon has filled her horn
And in the solemn night I watch
Before the Easter morn.
So pure, so still the starry heaven,
So hushed the brooding air,
I could hear the sweep of an angel's wings
If one should earthward fare.
~Edna Dean Proctor, "Easter Morning"

I wish everybody a wonderful day filled with sunshine, children, church, and chocolate!

One year!

It's official. I am a non-smoker! I quit a year ago today. I am so much happier and healthier though 5 pounds heavier. I still have occasional cravings, but they don't last long. I can really credit Allen Carr's book "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking". It wasn't easy, but his book was very motivating. The quit smoking meter I have states I have saved $1461.00 and haven't smoked 7307 cigarettes based on a pack a day-though sometimes I smoked more than that. Oh, who am I kidding, I usually smoked more than that. With the money I have saved I am getting some much needed dental work. I know it's a boring reward, but one I really want.
