Today is the day in which smokers are encouraged to quit. This is the 36th annual smokeout. I quit smoking 2 years, 7 months ago and I've never regretted it. We had a bad scare this week with my mom being hospitalized. She got sick and then couldn't breathe. She has some sort of bronchitis that she can't seem to shake. She is a little better now and is home, but on oxygen. She gets out of breath just standing. I stayed a week with her to help, but now I'm sick! I feel bad because I can't help her, but it feels good to be home.

This is the first I have heard of Sweetest Day, but apparently it's been around since 1922.It started as a day to bring happiness to shut-ins, orphans, and others who are forgotten or lonely or otherwise underpriveleged. I had the worst news from my dentist. I have to get dentures! Full upper and a partial lower plate. I am devastated! And terrified! It's official. I am a non-smoker! I quit a year ago today. I am so much happier and healthier though 5 pounds heavier. I still have occasional cravings, but they don't last long.
